RSG Slate Philippines head coach Brian “Panda” Lim felt he should have added John “1rrad” Tuazon to his team sooner rather than later to get him more accustomed with the rest of the team.
Even as a late addition, 1rrad is living up to the expectations when he took over the place of John Paul “H2wo” Salonga in the MSC defending champions’ main five, but Panda admitted that they had to fast-track incorporating the sophomore jungler to the flow of things during the two-week break. “If I can go back in time, maybe starting from the Week 5 palang, I would consider having H2wo and 1rrad together kaysa having him in the last moment,” said Panda in the aftermath of the team’s 3-0 sweep of Onic to advance to an upper bracket semis collision against ECHO. “Having him in Week 8 was kind of a desperate move for us and because of that we have to really catch up on a lot of things for 1rrad, communication, chemistry and the bonding din,” explained the Hall of Legends coach. Good thing though, the two week break, although short, worked wonders for 1rrad and RSG as they showed impeccable chemistry evident with the team’s rousing performance to open its campaign in the playoffs. “Sobrang laking bagay nung [two-week break] kasi yung two weeks na yun ang dami naming naipasok na bago. Like kung ano yung finocus namin sa una, natapos namin,” said 1rrad during the post match interview. “Pero hindi kasi isang araw lang na process yung ganung practice namin. Sobrang haba talaga ng practices namin kaya nakatulong sa amin,” he added. 1rrad’s performance in the series said it all especially during the second game when he got his hands on his signature Hayabusa pick. The second-year pro dashed his way to an impressive 8-1-9 line highlighted by a crucial Lord steal at the 16th minute which completely took the fight out of the Hedgehogs. He also impressed with utility tank junglers as he showcased Baxia and Fredrinn picks in the first and third games respectively.
