CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Authorities destroyed marijuana worth P9.7 million in separate eradication operations in Pangasinan, La Union, and Ilocos Sur last month.
Police uprooted 140 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P28,000 in a plantation in Barangay Tobuan, Labrador, Pangasinan on April 14. Two suspected cultivators, Brasilio Manganis Tibangay and Junior Lao-an Bao-an, were arrested.
On April 18, 7,995 FGMP, 15,500 seedlings, and 20,000 seeds worth P2,719,000 were destroyed by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a plantation in Sitio Upper Bas-angan, Sapdaan, Santol, La Union. No cultivator was arrested.
In Sitio Sawangan, Barangay Danac, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, police and PDEA discovered a plantation with 28,820 FGMP, 10 kilos of dried marijuana leaves, and 360 marijuana seedlings worth P6,978,400 from April 22 to 23.
These were burned on site. No cultivator was apprehended but persons of interests have been identified.
Police Lt. Col. Mar Louise T. Bundoc, Police Regional Office-1 Intelligence Division OIC, said these plantations were discovered through information provided by residents.
Police Brig. Gen. John C. Chua, PRO-1 director, congratulated his men for the successful operations.
He vowed to eradicate illegal drugs and lawlessness in the region through strengthened and relentless police operations.
