Over 200 hired-on-the-spot in Pasig's post-Labor Day job fair
A total of 254 out of 800 jobseekers were hired-on-the-spot by employers during the "Trabaho para sa Pasigueño" job fair in Pasig City on Tuesday, May 2.Â
Among those who flocked to the Tanghalang Pasigueño for the fair, 161 were classified as "near-hires" or those who received favorable initial responses from the companies they applied to but still need to undergo second or final interview processes with their potential employers.Â
More than 30 local and foreign companies participated in the event.Â

According to the city's Public Information Office (PIO), around 100 first time jobseekers were also provided with services from the one-stop shop simultaneously held with the job fair. The one-stop shop offered convenient access to police and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances, and registration to the Social Security System (SSS), Philhealth, and PAG-IBIG, among others. The assistance to first-time jobseekers was made in accordance with Republic Act No. 11261 or the "First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act," which "waives the government fees and charges in the issuance of documents required for employment applications of first-time applicants."Â

The job fair was made possible through the Pasig Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and in partnerships with national government agencies and the private sector. The local government said that more job fairs will be launched by PESO this year. The public is advised to wait for announcements regarding job opportunities on the PIO's social media pages. Companies and agencies that are interested in joining future fairs are also asked to coordinate with PESO.Â
