Military: NPA fatality in Cagayan clash was Manila university student

SANTA Teresita, Cagayan – One of the two New People’s Army fatalities in an encounter with the military in Barangay Alucao here on Wednesday, May 3, was reportedly a student of a prestigious university in Manila. The 5th Infantry Division identified the fatality as “Morga” but did not disclose her school. The encounter between the 501st Infantry Brigade and the Komiteng Probinsya (KomProb) Cagayan at Isabela lasted for an hour after which the communist guerrillas retreated to the southeast. Two R4 rifles, M16 rifle, M653 rifle, five M16 magazines, 122 5.56mm ammunition, two commercial radios, two bandoliers,  power banks,  cooking pot, backpacks, cellphones, chargers, 11 Subscriber Identity Module cards, and subversive documents were recovered in the area. The government renewed its appeal to NPA remnants in Cagayan to surrender.
