Electrical engineer from Cebu 'ghosted' by girl he likes gets revenge
CEBU CITY – He was ghosted by the woman she liked for focusing too much on his studies.
But the heartbreak was replaced with joy after Bench Lee Abadilla, after graduating with honors, finally became a licensed engineer.
Abadilla, a graduate of the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, was one of the 3,339 examinees who passed the Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination.
The results were released by the Professional Regulation Commission last Thursday, April 27.
Abadilla went viral on social media last year when he posted his graduation photo accompanied by an intriguing caption.
“To the girl who ghosted me and said “bantay (o)g di ka ma Cum Laude aning sige’g study nimo ha (let us see if you can be a Cum Laude for being so studious).” This is for you,” said Abadilla in his July 23, 2022 post.
The post earned 24,888 reactions, 670 comments, and 6,600 shares.
Abadilla made the post after graduating with cum laude honors.
He would go on to achieve another personal milestone when he passed the licensure examination.
In a post on Wednesday, May 3, Lee thanked the woman for his recent achievement.
"Thank you for ghosting me, engineer na ako ngayon (I am now an engineer),” he said.
Ghosting is the act of suddenly cutting contact with a person, usually a romantic partner, without explaining.
Controversial Negros Oriental Rep. Arnie Teves Jr. has filed a bill that seeks to declare ghosting an emotional offense.
Abadilla is a resident of Barangay Ermita here where he is a youth leader.
He was previously commended by the barangay for initiating projects meant to keep the youth in his barangay away from vices and illegal activities.
Abadilla initiated the program to help change the negative perceptions of people living in Barangay Ermita.
