Some 100 vaccination teams were fielded by the City Health Office for the Measles, Rubella, and Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA) in Zamboanga City from May 1 to 31.

These teams are conducting house-to-house visits to reach the eligible population in various communities. Kick-off ceremonies of the vaccination activity was led by Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe on Tuesday, May 2, in a covered court in Barangay Sangali on the west coast. The vaccination campaign is aimed towards preventing an outbreak of measles, rubella, and polio among the eligible population. The City Health Office of Zamboanga is targeting to vaccinate around 79,973 children aged nine to 59 months against measles and rubella and 93,802 toddlers from zero to 59 months against polio. The Department of Health aims to accomplish a 95 percent vaccination rate for children in the Zamboanga Peninsula.
