Radio broadcaster gunned down in Oriental Mindoro


CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro - A radio commentator was shot and killed by two gunmen before dawn on Wednesday, May 31, along the Strong Republic Nautical Highway in Barangay Santa Isabel, this city.

Police identified the victim as Cresenciano A. Bunduquin, 50, a resident of Barangay Canubing Uno, Calapan City while one of the suspects was identified as Narciso Guntang who died due to head injuries when the son of the victim chased them on board a car and bumped the get-away motorcycle of the suspects.

Police said that Bunduquin was standing in front of his store at about 4:20 a.m. when the suspects riding a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle with license plates  DD22153 approached and shot him.

John Mar R. Bunduquin, son of the victim, upon seeing the incident, boarded their Hyundai Accent car with plate number NDK-2916, followed them, and  bumped the rear portion of the motorcycle which hit a steel barrier on the road side that caused the instant death of Guntang who was driving the motorcycle.

The second suspect, the alleged gunman, fled on foot towards the southern direction.

Bunduquin sustained one fatal bullet wound in the  head and three more  in other parts of his body.

Bunduquin's and suspect's  bodies were brought to two separate funeral homes for autopsy.

Police are conducting hot pursuit operations against the remaining suspect .

The victim was a regular radio commentator in a local radio station in Calapan City.
