OCTA sees dip in Metro Manila's Covid-19 cases

OCTA Research fellow Guido David said the National Capital Region (NCR) positivity rate dipped to 21.2% as of May 28. This is a further decrease from 25.2% last May 21. "DOH reported 0 deaths, 1734 recoveries 14742 active cases. 21.9% national positivity rate. 267 cases in NCR," David said on Twitter. From May 26, the reproduction number has decreased to 0.97, which is below 1. Based on recent reports, hospital occupancy has seen a slight increase from 28.8% on May 21 to 29.1% on May 28. OCTA meanwhile expects 1,300 to 1500 new cases of Covid on May 31. The World Health Organization (WHO) uses a rate of less than five percent to show that the spread of the virus is under control. However, positive rates also "stayed high" in most of Luzon with the Oriental Mindoro province having a rate of 55.6% on May 27. *(Rhowen Del Rosario)*
