ACT-CIS Party-list nominee Erwin Tulfo (Ellson Quismorio/ MANILA BULLETIN)
If he would have his way, ACT-CIS Party-list nominee Erwin Tulfo said he would love to join the House of Representatives' version of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. "Gusto ko sana (What I want is hopefully), I would love to join [the] Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability," Tulfo told House of Representatives reporters inside his office Wednesday morning, May 31. "Para doon sa mga government agencies, ma-check natin, di ba? (So that we can check the government agencies, right?)" he said. According to the House of Representatives website, the Committee of Good and Public Accountability covers "all matters directly and principally relating to malfeasance, misfeasance and nonfeasance in office committed by officers and employees of the government and its political subdivisions and instrumentalities inclusive of investigations of any matter of public interest on its own initiative or upon order of the House". Currently chaired by San Jose del Monte lone district Rep. Florida "Rida" Robes, the panel is often referred to as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee of the House. "Mga government agencies, yung mahaba ang mga pila, yung mga medyo may attitude yung employees (Those government agencies that have long queues, and those that have foul-mannered employees), I want to check on that," said Tulfo, a former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary of the current Marcos administration. He said that he also wants to look into private entities that impose exorbitant fees on Filipinos. Tulfo, also a former broadcast journalist, took his oath as the third nominee of ACT-CIS Party-list on Tuesday night. He has a senator-brother in Raffy Tulfo.
