ACT-CIS Party-list nominee Erwin Tulfo (Ellson Quismorio/ MANILA BULLETIN)
ACT-CIS Party-list nominee Erwin Tulfo is raring to go to work, with some 120 draft bills ready to be filed. Tulfo himself shared this to reporters during a chance interview Wednesday, May 31 when he occupied his office in the House of Representatives for the first time. "I'm keen on filing a lot of bills, I have 120 right now lined up. Half of it, centered toward poverty alleviation and helping the poor," said Tulfo, a former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary of the current Marcos administration. But Tulfo quickly admitted that he has "lot of things to learn in Congress". As for filing bills, he said: "I have to learn how to do it." He said his fellow ACT-CIS Party-list nominees in the House, who have already been serving as solons in the 19th Congress, will "coach" him. Asked to name a specific measure that he plans to pursue, Tulfo said he would file a bill requiring private companies to hire at least 5 percent of their manpower from the persons with disabilities (PWD) sector and senior citizen. Tulfo took his oath as the third nominee of ACT-CIS Party-list on Tuesday night.
Rep. Jocelyn Tulfo and Edvic Yap are the other two nominees of ACT-CIS, the top vote-getter among party-lists during the May 2022 elections.
