Elderly woman dies after being hit by ambulance in Negros city
BACOLOD CITY – A 70-year-old woman died after she was struck by an ambulance in Barangay 9, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 30.
Police identified the victim as Angeles Arsalem of Barangay 9.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Arnold Tadiaque, investigator of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said the victim was sideswiped by an ambulance owned by the city government of Sipalay.
The ambulance was on its way to this city to bring a dialysis patient to a hospital.
Tadiaque said the 29-year-old ambulance driver probably failed to notice the victim who was crossing the street.
He, however, added that the driver was driving at a normal speed when the accident happened.
Tadiaque said the victim was declared dead on arrival in a hospital while the ambulance driver and his two passengers – the patient and helper – were unharmed.
He said there was already a settlement between both parties.
