Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Department of National Defense (DND) OIC, administered the oaths of Directors Eugene Gardon Cabrera, Cesar Malanum Idio, Raylindo Salasayo Aniñon, Ramon Martinez Ochotorena, Claudio Lopena Yucot, and Jose Harry Mariano Barber.

In his speech, Galvez congratulated and welcomed the newly sworn-in OCD directors.

“I trust our new directors to make a profound impact on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM) effort. The rainy season is here and I am sure they will soon hit the ground running. I have full confidence in their notable leadership and managerial skills,” he stated.

Meanwhile, OCD Administrator Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno stressed the crucial responsibility of the Office in spearheading the national government’s efforts on disaster risk reduction and management.

He emphasized the need for the OCD to “maintain a constant state of preparedness, foresight, and responsiveness” in order to fulfill their duties as public servants.

“We cannot deliver basic social services to the affected and vulnerable sectors in times of crises if we lack these qualities,” Nepomuceno said in his message that was delivered by OCD deputy administrator for operations Asst. Sec. Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV.

The OCD Administrator assured the public that its responsibilities in building preparedness and resilience, responding to hazards, and building capacities of its counterparts “will continue to grow robust.”
