2 farmers suffocate to death inside deep well in Ilocos Sur

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – Two farmers died of suffocation inside a deep well in Barangay Amguid, Candon City, Ilocos Sur on Tuesday, May 30. Police identified the victims as Elmer Javillo, 42, and Jomar Galinato, 37, residents of Barangay Amguid. Investigation said Javillo went down to clean a 22-foot deep well but he stayed too long and failed to come out. Diosdado Galinato, 54, asked Jomar to help Javillo get out but he was also trapped inside the deep well. Diosdado sought help from the police and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) which retrieved the victims and taken to the Ilocos Sur Medical Center here where they were declared dead on arrival by Dr. Alpha Baltaken. Police theorized that the victims died of suffocation inside the deep well.
