Tornado strikes in Negros town, destroys eatery

BACOLOD CITY – An eatery was destroyed by a tornado that struck Barangay Nanunga, Hinigaran town in Negros Occidental on Monday, May 29. According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the tornado was believed to have formed in a vacant area and directly hit the eatery situated across the street. Fortunately, there were no people eating inside the eatery at the time the tornado struck. A few weeks ago, 13 houses were also damaged by a tornado in Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City.
