Mimaropa cops donate over P1M cash assistance to Or Mindoro oil spill victims
The Police Regional Office 4B has turned over more than P1 million cash assistance to the oil-spill affected families in Oriental Mindoro.
PRO4B director Brig. Gen. Joel Doria said the P1,067,585 cash assistance came from the police regional office’s Color Fun Run for a Cause (Run for the Affected Families of Oil Spill Incident), a regionwide simultaneous PNP-initiated activity, in collaboration with the various local government units, other government agencies and stakeholders.
The program, held on April 28, was aimed at raising funds intended to alleviate the living conditions of families affected by the oil spill incident in Oriental Mindoro.

The cash assistance was turned over by Doria to Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A. Dolor.
The donation was the second given by the PRO4B, the first was on May 3 with P1,250,624 from voluntary contributions from its personnel and all PNP units in the region to help those poor and oil spill- affected families in Pola town.
PRO4B covers the provinces of Oriental and and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa).
"Through our collective efforts, we were able to provide much-needed financial assistance to our fellow citizens in Oriental Mindoro who were greatly affected by the oil spill. We remain committed to serving our communities and providing aid in times of need." said Doria.
Based on the government data, the province of Oriental Mindoro has sustained estimated environmental damage over P7 billion and P3.8 billion damage to fisheries including income loss caused by the oil spill.
The municipality of Pola, on the other hand, suffered the brunt of the oil spill incident in the province of Oriental Mindoro, affecting 11 barangays, 4, 839 families, 24, 195 individuals and 7 marine protected areas.
The oil spill came after the sinking of an oil tanker containing 800,000 liters of industrial oil off the waters of Naujan town in Oriental Mindoro on Feb 28.
