Magnitude 4.9 quake jolts Quezon — Phivolcs


A magnitude 4.9 quake jolted Quezon around 11:22 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

State seismologists on Tuesday said the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded 14 kilometers (km) northeast of Infanta, Quezon. It was tectonic in origin.

The seismic event was “slightly felt” at Intensity II in the City of Makati, City of Quezon, City of Manila, and City of San Juan. Meanwhile, Instrumental Intensity V was recorded in Polillo, Quezon.

Phivolcs said no aftershocks and damage are expected to follow this quake.
