A total of 34 former rebels from Iligan City in Lanao del Norte were included in the housing program of the national government, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) disclosed on Tuesday, May 30.
DILG Iligan City Director Maria Maida B. Daniot said the former rebels already underwent profiling and enrolment for housing assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
Daniot explained that the qualified former rebels can choose from three housing options under the ECLIP program namely the construction of a house (in cases that he or she only owns a title of land), housing project and cash assistance for the repair of an existing house.
“The housing project for former rebels forms part of the national government’s priority thrust to help rebel returnees reintegrate back into the community and start a new and normal life together with their families, fulfillment of the government’s promise to provide better shelter and homes for the former rebels to help them rebuild their lives,’’ the DILG stated.
The E-CLIP program is one of the projects implemented by the government under Executive Order (EO) 70 or the Whole of Nation approach in Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).
