26 PH Marian shrines, minor basilicas to hold prayers for universal synod on May 31

Pope Francis declared in his Regina Caeli address that the day of prayer for the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops would be devoted to Mary on the last day of May. The main ceremony will take place at the International Shrine and will begin with a parade at 4:30 p.m.  After that, there will be a catechetical lecture on synodality, rosary recitation, and the Mass at 6:00 p.m. “We walk together, because the Spirit, as at Pentecost, loves to descend while ‘everyone is together," the Pope said in a statement posted on Catholic News Agency. “Let us ask the Virgin Mary to accompany this important stage of the synod with her maternal protection. The people of God, to be filled with the Spirit, must therefore walk together, hold a synod,” he added.  At the request of Pope Francis, the General Secretariat of the Synod has asked the Church all over the world to have a day of Marian Moment of Prayer. In response to this, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and the International Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, Antipolo Cathedral, have been tasked with hosting and coordinating the Marian Moment of Prayer, which coincides with the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The event will be led by Bishop Pablo Virgilio S. David of Kalookan and the CBCP President. Many Marian sites, including Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Poland, the Knock Shrine in Ireland, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels in Costa Rica, and Our Lady of Fourvière in France, have stated that they will take part.  Here are the Philippine national shrines and minor basilicas that will participate in the Marian Moment of Prayer for the Synodal Process: \- Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception\, Batangas City \- Manila Metropolitan Cathedral \- Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception\, Manila \- Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Charity\, Agoo\, La Union \- Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia\, Naga City \- Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Visitation of Piat\, Piat\, Cagayan \- Immaculate Conception Cathedral and Minor Basilica\, Malolos City \- Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Manaoag\, Manaoag\, Pangasinan \- Minor Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt\.
