Returning Jack Animam headlines Gilas 3x3, 5-on-5 Women rosters
Jack Animam is making her highly anticipated return to Gilas Pilipinas as she headlines the Nationals' roster in the 5-on-5 and 3x3 women’s basketball events in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
Animam, who is returning from an ACL injury which she sustained during her professional stint in Serbia, is rekindling her partnership with Afril Bernardino and Janine Pontejos along with Mikka Cacho in the women’s 3x3. Animam, Pontejos and Bernardino are also expected to lead the way for the intact Gilas team which is gunning for a rare SEA Games hat-trick after winning the last two editions of the regional meet. The three will be joined by long-time members Clare Castro, Chack Cabinbin, Khate Castillo, Camille Clarin, Katrina Guytingco and Ella Fajardo. Also with the team are Andrea Tongco, Stefanie Berberabe and Angel Surada. The Filipinas are set for a grueling schedule in the women's tournament which will follow a single-round robin format. The Gilas Women crew is playing a tough six-game schedule in a six-day stretch which begins on May 10 at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh. The Filipinas take on the Cambodians first before clashing with the Singaporeans the following day, May 11. Gilas Women tangle against Indonesia on May 12 and Vietnam on May 13 before wrapping up the schedule with a clash against Thailand on May 14 and Malaysia on May 15. The 3x3 affair, on the other hand, kicks off May 6 against Vietnam and Laos in the pool play while the playoffs happens the following day.
