P26-M marijuana destroyed in Cordillera

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Authorities discovered and destroyed marijuana plants worth P26 million from April 23 to 29 in Benguet and Kalinga. A total of 70, 020 fully-grown marijuana plants and 100, 000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops from 20 plantations were burned onsite after documentation. Meanwhile, eight suspected drug pushers were arrested during buy-bust operations in the Cordillera region from April 23 to 29. The Police Regional Office-Cordillera- Regional Operations Division (ROD) said 4.02 grams of suspected shabu with an overall SDP of P27, 336 were confiscated from the suspects. Five were arrested by Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) while the Benguet Police Provincial Office nabbed three. Suspects in Baguio City were identified as  Shaina Fane Balbuena, 25; Arnold Atonen, 27; Ernesto Escarilla Iii, 48; Jun Panelo, 39; and Daryl Collera, 27. In Benguet, suspects were Ursula Cabbigat, 55; Anthony Pa-At, 41; and Meljohn Cabusora, 35 They face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
