Muntinlupa City’s active Covid-19 cases rose sharply, prompting officials to urge the public to wear face masks again.
The Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO) reported that as of May 1, the city’s active Covid-19 cases totaled 38, an increase of 245 percent compared to just 11 as of April 24.

Two people have died from Covid-19 in the past week with the tally showing the total deaths in Muntinlupa increasing to 654 as of May 1 from 652 as of April 24. Of the 38 active Covid-19 cases, eight are recorded in Barangay Poblacion; seven in Putatan; six each in Tunasan and Ayala Alabang; four in Cupang; three in Bayanan; and two each in Sucat and Alabang. Buli, the smallest barangay, has zero active case. Since the pandemic started in 2020, Muntinlupa has recorded 46,334 confirmed cases; 45,642 recoveries; and 654 deaths. Last April 28, Mayor Ruffy Biazon reconvened the local Task Force on Covid-19 amid the rising number of cases in the country. Biazon urged the public to wear face masks to protect themselves and other people against the spread of Covid-19. “Let’s all help #StopTheSpread. Wear your face mask and protect others from #COVID19!” he posted on Facebook.
