Based on data from Korea’s Hanteo Chart, Le Sserafim’s “Unforgiven” sold a total of 1,024,034 copies on the first day of release on May 1. With this Le Sserafim broke the record for the highest first-day sales for an album of a K-pop girl group. They eclipsed the record set by BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink,” which sold 1,011,266 copies on the first day of release on Sept. 16, 2022. The first-day total for “Unforgiven” is higher by 615,201 copies compared to Le Sserafim’s “Antifragile” album, which tallied 408,833 copies in sales on Oct. 17, 2022. “Unforgiven” reflects Le Sserafim’s resolution not to back down in the face of standards set by others in paving their own path. The lead single “Unforgiven (feat. Nile Rodgers)” blends hip-hop and funk rhythm while conveying the message that no limits or boundaries that others drew will ever stop them from moving forward together. It samples the main theme song from the film “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” (1966). “‘Unforgiven’ is our message to the world that we will together walk down the path we think is right, and we are not asking for forgiveness on the way from anyone in what we believe,” said leader Kim Chaewon.
