TACLOBAN CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Vincent Calanoga has been appointed acting Police Regional Office 8 (Western Visayas) director effective Tuesday, May 2.
CALANOGA (PRO-3 FB)
PRO-8 chief Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has been named officer-in-charge of the Directorate for Comptrollership. Marbil and Calanoga were among the five senior police officers reassigned by PNP chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. as part of a minor reorganization in the PNP. During Marbil's eight-month stint in PRO-8, he assisted in the surrender of former PDEA-NCR Director Erwin Ogario who was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte six years ago for his alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade. Marbil was also cited by then PNP chief Police Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. for intercepting a stolen vehicle and suspected shabu worth P7-million in Allen, Northern Samar on March 28 through Task Force Maharlika. The task force was a brainchild of Marbil aimed to secure the long stretch of highway serving as the main road from Allen, Northern Samar to San Ricardo, Southern Leyte. It was seen as a major key in preventing criminality and arresting the flow of illegal drugs in Eastern Visayas from Metro Manila.
