4 NPA rebels, supporter surrender in Quezon


CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels and a supporter surrendered in General Nakar and Lopez, Quezon on Tuesday, May 2.

The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the surrenderers as Dennis dela Cruz, alias “Harvey,” of the Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL) under Platun 1 (SDG)-Kilusang Larangan Gerilya (KLG) Narciso, Sub-Regional Military Area-4A, Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC);

Felix Compra, a resident of Barangay Mabunga, San Francisco, Quezon; and Napoleon Adan, a resident of Barangay Cawayan in Gumaca, Quezon, both members of the Milisya ng Bayan, and Eddie Tayatac, a resident of Barangay Camplora in San Andres, Quezon, a supporter of the Milisya ng Bayan.

The trio surrendered to the 85th Infantry Battalion in Barangay San Rafael, Lopez.

Dela Cruz’s surrender in General Nakar was  a result of the joint efforts of the 405th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-A, Provincial Intelligence Unit-Quezon of the Regional Intelligence Division 4-A, Makati City police, and 1st Infantry Battalion.

According to Dela Cruz, he was recruited by Jordan Mopon, alias “Boyong” and “Mico,” in May 2019 in Sitio Buslot Madaraki, Barangay Umiray, General Nakar, and studied party courses.

He became a food and logistics supplies courier to the main body of the SRMA-4A in Sitio Libutan, Sitio Buslot, and Madaraki in Barangay Umiray from 2019 to 2022 and until his surrender.

Dela Cruz turned over a caliber .38 revolver with bullets and is now under the custodial debriefing of the police and military.
Compra and his comrades surrendered in Lopez and have signed a voluntary waiver and condemned the communist movement.
