Each former rebel received P10,000 cash assistance during the turnover rites led by Mayor Benjie Miranda at the Alpha Company of the 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) headquarters in Barangay Camingawan. Cyril Ramos, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), said the cash aid is just part of the initial assistance since the rebel returnees are entitled to more benefits. In his message, Miranda said that the government initiatives will also encourage other rebels to turn themselves in to the authorities.
