ILOILO CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor led a random drug test among high-ranking officers in Camp Delgado here on Monday, May 29.

(PRO-6) “This is part of the internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police (PNP),” the acting Police Regional Office-6 chief said. Villaflor was among the key officers of the regional headquarters of PRO-6 here who underwent a surprise drug test. The surprise drug test came a day after Villaflor sternly warned 76 barangay (village) officials across Western Visayas allegedly involved in the illegal drugs trade or drug use. When Villaflor took over as regional director last May 24, he reiterated the need for policemen in Western Visayas to regain the trust and respect of the community. Police Major Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, added that surprise drug testing will also be conducted across police units in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
