* Forty Filipino and Indonesian soldiers trained together in jungle warfare, urban, and sniping operations during the bilateral exercise which began last May 21 at the headquarters of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSSR), Camp Tecson. “The training activity bolstered the tactics, techniques, and procedures as well as sustained the existing partnership between the two military forces,” said Col. Jorry Baclor, chief of AFP public affairs office. According to Baclor, the AFP has been pushing for improved international defense relations through military trainings and engagements to foster mutual trust and confidence with their foreign counterparts. Baclor said that the training marked both militaries’ “robust partnership and collaborative efforts toward building stronger relations and enhancing training and educational programs” for the benefit of the two countries. He said the AFP was looking forward to more defense engagements and training activities with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and other allied countries to further develop its capabilities as it shifts its focus from internal security operations to external defense.
