New PIA chief, other officials take oath; Palace bares new Marcos appointees

Torres took his oath of office before Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil on Monday morning. His appointment was announced by the PCO last week. He will replace resigned PIA chief Mon Cualoping. A new set of appointees also took their oath of office on Monday afternoon in Malacañang. Garafil administered the oath taking of Jefferson Ang as Assistant Secretary, Rufino Gerard Moreno III as Director III, and Anna Cristina S.R. Villonco as Director III under the broadcast production unit of the PCO.

Meanwhile, several new government officials were appointed by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in various agencies. Marcos appointed Romeo Benitez as Assistant Secretary in the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). He also named Gerard Seno as acting member of the Board of Directors of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Norberto Alensuela Sr. and Mary Joy Viñas as members representing the Labor Sector of the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Other appointees were Ria Joy Nabalan and Jhedelie Tinamisan both as Ensign in the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine Navy. The President also made several promotions in the Philippine National Police.
