Aside from informing the President, the senator, who was here and the province of Iloilo on Sunday, said she will back resolutions calling for a congressional inquiry on the Ungka Flyover that was one of the last pet projects pushed by former Sen. Franklin Drilon before he retired from politics in June 2022.

Marcos said that she personally learned of the problem of the Ungka Flyover from Vice Mayor Raymund Gumban of Pavia town.

The flyover that straddles between Pavia town and neighboring Iloilo City has been closed  since September 2022, months after it was opened.  The flyover was sinking and the unused structure has caused inconvenience as it generates heavy traffic on a daily basis.

Recently, an independent firm hired by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) released its findings that the flyover needs P250 million for repair.

Groups have recently called on contractor International Builders Corp. (IBC) to shoulder the flyover’s repair.
