“During the meeting, we talked about improving the relationship between Bohol and South Korea when it comes to tourism, infrastructure, agriculture, investments, culture, and employment,” said Aumentado.

Song was accompanied during the May 25 meeting by Consular Officer Gobuo Hong and Consular Agent in Bohol Sungjun Park.

Aumentado said a possible sisterhood agreement between Bohol and Jeju was also discussed.

Bohol and Jeju have been declared as Global Geopark by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), said Aumentado.

“As part of UNESCO Global Geoparks, Jeju and Bohol we want to share best practices on geopark management,” said Aumentado.

Aumentado considered the visit an opportunity for cross-cultural understanding and strengthening the economic relationship between both countries.

South Korean tourists have been the top visitors of Bohol.

Late last year, Aumentado and some capitol officials travelled to South Korea as part of the province’s efforts to boost its tourism.

After the trip, the governor announced that at least 10,000 South Koreans planned to visit the province starting late last year until early this year.
