Flor said chicken inasal began in 1942. “I don’t know if any local government unit (LGU) will dispute that,” she added. The chicken grilling event was the highlight of the celebration that kicked off on Friday, May 26, at the North Capitol Road. Various activities in relation to chicken inasal were also held at the Manokan Country, an alley of restaurants selling chicken inasal. Flor said that pioneers of the chicken inasal here were recognized in the first chicken inasal awards. “They made Bacolod famous because of the chicken inasal,” she added. In her message during the closing ceremony, Flor thanked everyone who supported and helped organize the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival. Meanwhile, Councilor Jason Villarosa said that Bacolodnons will experience a much bigger and grander chicken inasal festival next year. The festival was last celebrated in 2019, showcasing 300-meter long chicken inasal grilling event. Last year, Councilor Em Ang, chairperson of the Commitee on History, Culture, and Arts, authored an ordinance known as the Chicken Inasal Cultural Property Rights Ordinance.
