"We beg forgiveness for this shortcoming," said Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan in a statement issued Sunday, May 28 posted on CBCP News. He was referring to the complaint filed by retired justice Harriet Demetriou, a Catholic and Marian devotee, against Dominican priest Winston Cabading. David noted that the contention “may also be indicative of our shortcomings as Church leaders in facilitating dialogues”. Due to the criminal complaint, which he described as a "scandal to the faithful," David said that they are "perplexed" by the case since "Catholics are in conflict with each other over matters of faith." “It’s extremely disheartening, to say the least,” David added. Cabading, an exorcist affiliated with the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism (AMOE), was arrested at the Caleruega Church in Batangas and detained for two days over a weekend. He paid bail and was given temporary freedom on May 15. *(Rhowen Del Rosario)* RELATED STORY: [https://mb.com.ph/2023/5/26/arrested-exorcist-priest-gave-entire-life-to-always-preach-teach-truths-of-catholic-faith-pace](https://mb.com.ph/2023/5/26/arrested-exorcist-priest-gave-entire-life-to-always-preach-teach-truths-of-catholic-faith-pace)
