To safeguard the citizens of Pasig City, the local chapter of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is boosting its capacities and operations to fully prepare for the potential calamities and disasters that may occur this rainy season.
"Our top priority is the safety and well-being of Pasig City residents. By working together with barangay officials and different agencies, our aim is to fortify our readiness, this is in line with the Bureau’s mission to save lives and properties,” said Pasig City Fire Marshal Supt. Elaine Baylon-Evangelista in a press statement.

BFP personnel and equipment, including firetrucks and ambulances, have been prepared to respond to emergencies 24/7.
Plans and protocols to follow in the event of calamities in the city have also been laid out and discussed among all members of the BFP.
In close coordination with the city’s 30 barangays through the “Bumbero ng Barangay” initiative, the BFP has also been able to evaluate and identify flood-prone areas around the city.
Electrical posts have been inspected, trimming operations for trees have been conducted, and canals and drainage systems are being declogged with the help of the Engineering Department, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of the Pasig local government, along with other affiliated offices.

BFP-Pasig is also utilizing its various networks and connections with agencies to keep the public updated and informed, especially in regards to typhoons.
The BFP urged residents to stay alert, and follow the directives of their city and barangay officials in case urgent precautions need to be undertaken such as possible evacuations.

As of this writing, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has yet to officially announce the official date of the beginning of the rainy season.
