Among the recipients were the Bacolod Girls’ Home Foundation, Saint Vincent's Home for the Aged, Bacolod Boys’ Home Foundation, Social Development Center (SDC), and senior citizens’ associations. Councilor Celia Flor, chairperson of the city council Committee on Markets, said the meals were given to the beneficiaries a day prior to the opening of the event to avoid closure of festival sites. It was an economic enterprise for the tenants and for all the concessionaires, she added. Flor said the city government allocated a budget of P1.5 million for the whole duration of the festival. City Ordinance No. 482, Series of 2009, laid down the framework of the Manokan Country Inasal Festival. It was amended by City Ordinance No. 847, Series of 2018, and is now known as the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival. The festival was suspended for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the opening rites on Friday, May 26, Flor said that this is the first time that the chicken inasal festival was held in three venues – Megaworld Upper East, North Capitol Road, and Manokan Country. In the first day, San Miguel beer tasting and pairing of chefs’ chicken inasal versions were held at the North Capitol Road. The following day, a Barangay Inasal Cook-off was held at the Manokan Country and SM City Bacolod. Barangay Mandalagan was hailed champion in the cook-off while Barangays Singcang-Airport and 29 placed first and second runners-up, respectively. The longest chicken inasal grilling will be held at the Megaworld Upper East in the closing day of the festivity on May 28.
