The PH batters gave everything they could with hopes of avenging their previous loss to the same rival, but the Taiwanese were too much to handle.

Despite the defeat, the Filipinos still earned a spot in the WBSC Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball World Cup scheduled this year.

“Though we may have fallen short, we proudly clinched the silver medal… displaying incredible teamwork and determination throughout,” the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) Facebook page posted.

“Your hard work, determination and teamwork have truly paid off, and you have made our nation proud,” said ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier.

The team, backed by Cebuana Lhuillier, opened its campaign with a 7-6 upset victory over powerhouse China and followed it up with a 15-6 thrashing of Singapore.

They bowed to Chinese Taipei, 12-8, but recovered with a 31-11 thrashing of host Thailand to arrange a gold-medal match against the Taiwanese.
