Parañaqueños in California celebrate 35th town fiesta


The 35th Parañaque Town Fiesta in California to honor the patron saints of the city, Saint Andres Apostol and Nuestra Senora del Buen Suceso, was celebrated at the Glendale Civic Auditorium in  Glendale, California on May 20.

The feast showcased the rich heritage and culture of Parañaque City, presented through traditional songs and a parade including performances of the Sayaw ng Pagbati, Salubong, and Sunduan Festival.

Aside from the festive activities, Parañaque City Tourism Office head Melquiades Alipo-on and Congressional District Office Chief of Staff. Eva  Nono, on behalf of Mayor Eric Olivarez and District 1 Rep. Edwin Olivarez, presented an award to Reynaldo P. Layosa, in recognition of his efforts in promoting the culture of the city of Parañaque in Los Angeles, California.

Mayor Eric said he is grateful that communities of Parañaqueños abroad continue to celebrate local customs and traditions.

Olivarez said the festive activities were prepared by the Parañaque community in Los Angeles, California, headed by Layosa who’s been organizing the Parañaque Town Fiesta for 35 years.
