National Artist from Lucena honored

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Lucena City-born National Artist for Music Fides Cuyugan-Asensio was recently bestowed the “My City, My SM, My Music” award at SM City-Lucena.
ASENSIO (Danny Estacio) The award was a joint project of SM, the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Filipino Heritage Festival Inc., and World Championships of Performing Arts Team Philippines, with support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, National Music Competitions for Young Artists, and Tahanan Books. Cuyugan, also an opera singer, teacher, and stage and film actress, has been the recipient of many awards, including the PAMA-AS: Gintong Bai Award (Thank you to Outstanding Women Leaders) for the Musical Arts by the NCCA, a Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed by then President Gloria M. Arroyo in July 7, 2005, as well as the Gawad CCP Para sa Sining Award in 2015. She was named National Artist for Music in 2022.
