Police Brig. Gen. Joel Doria, director of the Police Regional Office 4B, has ordered the mobilization of policemen and police equipment in anticipation of the possible adverse effects of super typhoon “Betty” in the Mimaropa region.
PRO4B covers the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan (Mimaropa).
Doria said he had already directed all provincial directors and unit commanders to prepare and at the same time, continuously coordinate with local authorities for a strategy response to any untoward incident now that the super typhoon, international name Mawar, has already entered the country’s area of responsibility.
"We want to reassure the public that we have taken proactive measures and made thorough preparations to safeguard their lives and properties from the potential impacts of the super typhoon in the region," said Doria.
"With the necessary resources in place, including the Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and rescue teams for the distribution of relief goods, we are fully prepared for any eventuality," he added.
In issuing the order to prepare, Doria emphasized the importance of securing all camps, stations, and houses, conducting a thorough personnel and equipment accounting for search and rescue operations.
He added that coordination with local chief executives to activate the provincial and municipal disaster risk reduction and management councils if needed is equally important.
The official also provided essential preparedness tips to the public.
He advised individuals to prepare an emergency kit with at least three days' worth of food, water, clothing, medicine, and other necessary supplies to ensure their safety during the typhoon.
He added the importance of staying informed by keeping track of updates and advisories from the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) and local authorities to stay ahead of potential risks and hazards.
"We will closely monitor the development of the typhoon in our area of responsibility in coordination with LGUs and concerned agencies, even though the region is not an area of concern," said Doria.
