* Operatives from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested a man for illegal possession of a firearm in Barangay Maharlika, Quezon City on Friday, May 26. Lt. Col. Rolando Lorenzo Jr., QCPD District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) chief, identified the suspect as Alche Ang, 21, of Tondo, Manila. According to the police report, the operatives received information from a concerned citizen that the suspect is offering to sell a .38-caliber revolver for P3,500. A police poseur-buyer was able to contact Ang who agreed to sell the gun to him for P3,000. They first agreed to meet at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in front of a restaurant at the corner of N.S. Amoranto Ave. and Apo St. in Barangay Maharlika, Quezon City when Ang suddenly changed the location minutes before the meetup to a convenience store on Kanlaon St. in the same barangay. Upon their meetup, Ang showed the .38-caliber revolver to the operative where the latter asked for the gun's legal documents. The suspect failed to show the appropriate documents which led to his arrest. Seized from him were the .38-caliber revolver loaded with six live ammunition and the buy-bust money. The suspect will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
