Food stamp program a 'temporary solution' to address poverty: NAPC
While the national government's "Walang Gutom 2027" Food Stamp Program could not eliminate poverty in the Philippines, the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) emphasized that this would serve as a "temporary solution" to address the problem.

“It is true that it is a band-aid solution, it is a temporary solution," South Cotabato Governor and NAPC Vice Chair for the Government Sector Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. said in NAPC’s 25th anniversary celebration. "But we think that while we integrate other sustainable solutions, for the meantime, we need that just to get through,” he added, Former social welfare secretary Judy Taguiwalo also welcomed the program. The food stamp program aims to address involuntary hunger among the poorest Filipinos by providing them with P3,000 worth of electronic credits. The credits from the program can be used to purchase a specific range of food commodities from retailers authorized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). *(Rhowen Del Rosario)*
