DOH-Region 4-A under white alert as ‘Betty’ enters PAR

The Department of Health-Region 4-A (Calabarzon or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area) is on “white alert” status for super typhoon “Betty” (international name “Mawar”) from May 25 to 29.

“We have raised the alert status due to the track duration,” DOH-Region 4-A Director Ariel I. Valencia said.

“Due to this, we encourage all provinces in Calabarzon to raise their code alert as their Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices deem appropriate for monitoring and response to the possible effects of the super typhoon,” Valencia added.

Under a white alert status, medical personnel are placed on an “on-call status for immediate mobilization” to ensure the readiness of hospitals to respond to any emergency situation.

Betty entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday, May 27, and threatens Northern Luzon.
