DPWH-Region 2 deploys quick response personnel for ‘Betty’  


TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – The Department of Public Works and Highways-Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) has started deploying personnel and equipment for super typhoon “Betty” (international name “Mawar”).

Officer-in-charge regional director Reynaldo Alconcel ordered district engineering offices to set up prepositioned quick response assets (QRA) in 32 strategic locations throughout the five provinces in Cagayan Valley – Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Batanes.

Wilson Valdez, DPWH-Region 2 information officer, said round-the-clock maintenance personnel were also deployed to conduct immediate clearing activities on national roads in the region which are prone to flooding and landslides.

Alconcel said equipment and service vehicles are on standby for rescue operations.

Betty entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning, May 27, and threatens Northern Luzon.
