Ako-Bicol Tarabangan Caravan benefits 3,000 residents of Camalig, Albay
CAMALIG, Albay – More than 3,000 residents here have benefited from the Tarabangan Caravan of Ako Bicol party-list in partnership with the Albay 2D Office, the provincial government, and other private and government agencies.
Held at the newly constructed Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) command center in Barangay Salugan, the Tarabangan Caravan included a medical, dental, and optical mission.
Ako Bicol Rep. Jill Bongalon said that the activity is only a part of the series of medical, dental, and optical missions that will be conducted by the party-list all throughout the Bicol region which aim to bring government services to different sectors in the community.
"Isa itong priority program ng Ako Bicol party-list sa pangnguna ni Congressman Zaldy Co, na madala ang mga serbisyo ng gobyerno sa lahat ng sektor ng lipunan, lalong lalo na sa mahihirap. Kumbaga, all in one na (This is a priority program of Ako-Bicol party-list led by Congressman Zaldy Co that seeks to bring government services to the people, particularly the poor. It’s an all-in-one program)," Bongalon said.
"Isa lang ito sa mga caravans na gagawin natin. Nauna na nung isang buwan sa bayan ng Manito. Susunod po nito ay sa bayan ng Rapu-Rapu at sunod sunod na ito sa iba pang bayan sa buong Bicol (This is among the caravans that we will conduct. The first was held in the municipality of Manito. The next one will be held in the town of Rapu-Rapu, followed by other towns in the Bicol region)," Bongalon added.
Among the services rendered to residents here were free circumcision from Tanchuling Hospital, free massage and haircut, and medical and dental checkup with free medicines.
Free eyeglasses were given and cash assistance and food packs were also distributed. Two residents of Barangay Quirangay were the recipients of wheelchairs.
Camalig Vice Mayor Ding Baldo lauded the unity of Ako Bicol party-list, Albay 2D Office, provincial government of Albay, and the local government unit of Camalig in helping residents, especially the poor.
