3 gunrunners apprehended in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three suspected gunrunners were arrested in a gun buy-bust operation on Friday morning, May 26, in Barangay Halayhayin, Siniloan, Laguna. Police Regional Office 4-A Director Police Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces identified the suspects as Raymond Maghirang, Fernando Pundan, and Julito Maderazo. The trio were allegedly connected to the Jayson Cuento Group operating in Siniloan. The group was tagged by police as a Private Armed Group (PAG) in Laguna. Suspects were apprehended at around 11:45 a.m. by the Siniloan police, Laguna Provincial Intelligence Unit, and Provincial Special Operation Unit after they sold a caliber .45 pistol to a police poseur-buyer. Police also confiscated three mobile phones, a caliber .38 Armscor revolver loaded with six bullets, and the marked money. Meanwhile, a man was also arrested in Siniloan on Friday for possession of an unlicensed handgun. Suspect Edwin Advento was arrested through a search warrant implemented at 3 p.m. in Barangay M.  Pandeño. Advento yielded a caliber .38, six bullets, and a black holster. The four suspects face charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
