BACOLOD CITY – Two persons were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a row of cars and motorcycles parked in front of a building on Araneta St., Barangay Singcang-Airport, here on Wednesday, May 24.
Police Capt. Glenn Montaño, head of Police Station 8, said the accident happened when a 36-year-old former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) reportedly dozed off while driving his SUV on his way home.
Montaño said the SUV driver first hit a motorcycle he was tailing in Barangay Tangub. However, he failed to notice and continued driving until he figured in another accident on the flyover on Araneta St.
He said the SUV driver was tailing another motorcycle on the flyover when he dozed off again and swerved the vehicle to the right, crashing into three cars and six other motorcycles parked in the area before midnight.
Montaño said the former OFW came from a friend’s birthday party in the southern part of the province when he figured in the accident.
The former OFW and the motorcycle rider involved in the Tangub accident suffered minor injuries, according to Montaño.
He said there has been an initial settlement among the parties involved.
