OCD-Calabarzon under ‘blue’ alert for ‘Mawar’


CITY OF SANTA ROSA, Laguna – The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) is on blue alert status in preparation for super typhoon “Mawar” which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday night, May 26, or Saturday morning, May 27.

This alert status for all Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) Emergency Operations Center was raised following a Regional Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) here on Thursday, May 25.

OCD-Calabarzon and RDRRMC 4-A head Reyan Derrick Marquez, through operations chief Randy de la Paz who presided over the meeting, assured that they are ready and coordinating with regional DRRMCs for Mawar.

Marquez said this status ensures the provision of necessary augmentation to provincial, city, and municipal DRRM councils throughout the region in accordance with the rules or coordination mechanisms stated in Republic Act 10121 or the Philippine Disaster Management Act.

The meeting discussed the preparations and inventory of resources given by the cluster leads of various response clusters of the RDRRMC.

These clusters are the Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Food and Non-Food Items and Protection of Internally Displaced Population (DSWD 4-A), Logistics and Early Recovery (OCD 4-A), Health (DOH 4-A), Law and Order (PRO 4-A), Shelter (DHSUD 4-A), Education (DepEd 4-A), Emergency Telecommunications (DICT 4-A), Search, Rescue, and Retrieval (AFP-Solcom), Clearing (DPWH 4-A), and Management of the Dead and Missing (DILG 4-A).
