She partly owes her Miss International 2022 crown to her Filipino trainers, who molded her to perfection in Berlin, Germany. She knows the word "Marites" and she is thrilled at the prospect of finally meeting her idol, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, during the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 Coronation Night this Sunday, May 28. These, and other interesting tidbits, were revealed by reigning Miss International Jasmin Selberg during a face-to-face media conference organized by Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc at Novotel Hotel in Quezon City. "Thank you for welcoming me with a typhoon. I have not experienced that one yet, so it will definitely be very memorable here," she quipped. Jasmin wore a flowing rose-colored Filipiniana terno designed by Manny Halasan, a designer from Bulacan. The 23-year-old German beauty queen went into a fan mode when she talked about Catriona. "When I saw that she will be the host for Binibining Pilipinas 2023, I was like, 'oh my God, I'm meeting my idol.' I really hope that I get to take a picture with her and of course, have a little bonding time as well," she revealed. Jasmin said that she looks up to another Filipina, Miss Globe 2021 Maureen Montagne. It will be recalled that Jasmin represented Germany in the said pageant in 2021 but managed to finish only in the Top 15. She also competed in Miss Universe Germany 2022 and Miss Supranational 2022 but went unplaced.

Jasmin spoke a few phrases in the presscon such as "salamat po" and "wait lang." She recalled the first time she met Bb. Pilipinas International 2021 Hannah Arnold when they were in Tokyo last year. "I was introducing myself to Hannah and said, 'I am Marites.' She was very confused, and she said, 'Wait, your name is not Marites.' It took her a minute to understand what I meant, but after she found out, she was laughing, of course," Jasmine recounted. Jasmine shared her success formula after experiencing failures: Her advice to young girls who want to be like her is this: "Consistency is key and never giving up. If it doesn't work out on the first try, maybe try once more, and also don't lose your passion because if you're passionate about something then you can conquer the world." "Before I became a pageant queen, I was bullied in school, I felt very insecure. I had a hard time loving myself, I even had depression for a few years. I know what it's like to be in a bad place and I don't want to return to that," Jasmine narrated.

"When I started beauty pageants, I was just looking for another hobby during COVID time, and then luckily, my training camp from Berlin found me (composed of) Filipinos. I started loving myself more, I found out  the side of me that I really wasn't aware of, and it gave me hope for myself," she added. Miss International 2022 said being in the Philippines makes her happy because Filipinos are kind, loving, and "very, very funny." She added:: "You have so much humor, and I didn't expect anything less from you." Jasmin bared that she is no longer together with her Korean boyfriend Youngmin Park, but Asia remains close to her heart. "Every time I come to Asia, I have always been greeted with so much love and warmth by the people, and it makes me feel really appreciated as a person. I can also feel that it's genuine love and genuine kindness that I am experiencing here, which Europe still lacks, to be honest. Coming to Asia always makes me feel appreciated, and I want to give the same love back to the people here," she stressed.
