Lapid pushes use of home solar panel system in the PH
Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid on Friday, May 26 pushed for the use of home solar panel systems in the country.
Lapid, who filed Senate Bill No. 2138 or the proposed Net-Metering Program for Renewable Energy (RE) options, said such moves can help address the current power crisis being experienced in some parts of the country.
The senator said households with the capability to install solar panels should do so, amid the current electricity woes.
He said passage of SB No. 2138 will expedite the installation of solar panel systems in houses to the national grid.
This bill will provide additional incentives for our citizens to use Renewable Energy in their homes),” Lapid said in the explanatory note of the bill.
If we make it easier for residential solar panels to be connected to the national grid, our citizens will also be given the opportunity countrymen to help solve the electricity crisis even in a small way),” explained Lapid.
According to Lapid, this will not only help consumers to alleviate the high consumption of electricity but will also increase the production of energy supply in the country.
With the right system, even if the national grid fails for any reason, consumers will have a back-up in the event of a brownout because the sunlight is free),” he said.
