CEBU CITY – The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) on Sunday, May 21, successfully launched the “Bayan Bangon Muli” caravan in Compostela town, northern Cebu.

Spearheaded by OPAV Undersecretary Terence Calatrava, the caravan of government services and blood-letting benefited not just Compostelanos but also those from nearby municipalities in northern Cebu.
The caravan, which was held at the gymnasium of Barangay Canamucan, Compostela, was supported by Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, Cebu Rep. Duke Frasco, Compostela Mayor Felijur Quiño, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Clinic (Blood Services Unit), Tingog party-list, and several government agencies.
During the blood-letting, at least 50 individuals showed up to donate blood.
At least 15 companies also participated in the jobs fair spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment.
Seven job applicants were hired on the spot, while 47 others will be hired once they comply with the necessary documentary requirements.
Free consultation, free drafting, and notarization of legal documents were also provided by 10 volunteer lawyers from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.
Services were also rendered by the Philippine Statistics Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Migrant Workers, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
