119 modified motorcycle mufflers destroyed in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – Authorities destroyed 119 confiscated modified motorcycle mufflers in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 23.

An excavator truck ran over the mufflers in Barangay Zone 12, witnessed by local officials and policemen. According to the city Public Information Office (PIO), these mufflers had been causing noise and contributing to noise pollution along roads in the city. Police Capt. Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the city has an existing ordinance against loud motorcycle open pipe mufflers. Other localities in the province prohibit the use of modified mufflers as these may cause disturbance in the community.
